Salary: $60 - $80/hour DOE
Chowgirls Catering seeks a financial leader a spreadsheet guru with hospitality experience to support a financially literate team using Open Book Management practices. Our new Controller will supervise the staff accountant and collaborate with leadership teams to create pivot tables, KPI calculators, scoring systems, and other calculation templates. Regular responsibilities include monthly financial reports, reconciliations, accruals, budget, and forecast. As an important point person, the Controller will usher audits, communicate with tax accountant, and collaboratively lead financial meetings. Were looking for a systems-savvy individual to wow us with their Quickbooks Online skills and help improve our systems for data collection. This hybrid position pays $60-$80/hour, working approximately 20 hours per week.
NECESSARY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE - Higher level accounting experience
- Proficiency in Google and Microsoft suites required
- Basic sales tax and corporate tax knowledge required
- Hospitality/food industry experience preferred
- Open Book Management experience preferred
- Spreadsheet mastery
- Proficiency in Quickbooks Online with systems savvy to maximize software integrations
- Ability to analyze financial data and relate analysis to business operations
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong planning and organization skills
- Working knowledge of tax-related terminology and concepts required; more advanced knowledge of tax rules and practices preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION
CONTROLLER
Part time - hourly
The Controller serves to continually strategize, monitor, analyze, and improve Chowgirls finances, both short and long-term, and acts as an advisor to the rest of the Chowgirls team.
The Controller supervises the Accountant and reports to the CEO.
FINANCIAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT
- Support team in creating monthly financial reports, including P&L, balance sheets, KPIs and other relevant presentations percentages, and year-to-date comparisons
- Create and manage a forecasting system
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Calculate and enter monthly accruals and allocations
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to create budget/forecasting systems and tools to assist with financial predictions and summaries
- Develop and integrate annual budget and forecast for future budgets
- Assist and support all departments with data analysis
- Optimize QB Online usage sales tax, integrations (Square, Honeycart, Total Party Planner), and other automations
- Create pivot tables and other calculation templates, e.g., KPI calculators, scoring systems
- Learn, support, and serve as backup in biweekly payroll
- Improve systems for data collection from staff (e.g., tip distribution, inventory, etc.)
- Serve as point person and provide necessary reports for financial, tax, and insurance audits
- Lead financial meetings
- Collaboratively guide and support financial systems improvements
- Communicate with tax accountant to maximize efficient filing
- Oversee company cash flow, responding appropriately when necessary, creating and utilizing a system to do so
- Educate Chowgirls staff in financial literacy and teach proper use of financial tools (i.e., pivot table, spreadsheets, etc.)
- Review weekly expenditures
- Review bi-weekly payroll
- Analyze opportunities from a financial perspective
- Oversee loan and credit card management
- Maintain healthy relationship with bank(s) and private lenders
