Job Title: Junior DevOps Engineer
Location: Cleveland, OH 44115 (Hybrid 3 days on-site)
Employment Type: Contract

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning:

  • Support management in implementing long-term strategic goals for technologies and related products aligned with business requirements.
  • Collaborate with business owners and department managers to support technology platforms.
  • Work with development teams to implement architecture, tuning/coding standards, and quality assurance policies.
  • Assist in implementing redundant systems, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, monitoring, alerting, and data archiving policies.
  • Evaluate and implement new software versions, technologies, and processes.
  • Align solutions across platforms by collaborating with other engineers.

Acquisition & Deployment:

  • Support management in ensuring the quality of new applications and software enhancements.
  • Implement software products and services to support procurement and development efforts.
  • Conduct feasibility studies for new system products and provide recommendations.
  • Ensure software integrations meet functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.
  • Collaborate with analysts, designers, and system owners in software testing.
  • Participate in server lifecycle management, technology upgrades, and security implementations.

Operational Management:

  • Assist in the engineering, configuration, operation, and maintenance of secure and scalable internet/intranet infrastructure supporting eCommerce, CMS, and enterprise applications.
  • Document installation and configuration standards in the team's knowledge base.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software infrastructure issues.
  • Develop and execute automated deployments of digital assets across environments.
  • Optimize web and application server performance in collaboration with Application Performance Management teams.
  • Work on projects based on high-level requirements with minimal guidance.
  • Support a 24x7 global production environment.

Incidental Functions:

  • Monitor servers, applications, integrations, and websites.
  • Assist with disaster mitigation and recovery implementation.
  • Participate in hiring and compliance with equal employment opportunity policies.
  • Attend meetings with software developers and business users.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years of IT experience.
  • 3+ year of experience with Application Servers, including installation and performance tuning.
  • 3+ year working with web-based architecture, including SSL, Domains, DNS, and content delivery networks.
  • 3+ year of experience with automation and deployment tools (Ruby, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
  • 3+ year of experience in cloud solutions for application implementation.
  • 3+ year of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
  • Understanding of security-related tools (Web Application Firewall, SAST, DAST).
  • Working knowledge of Apache-based Webserver or Nginx.
  • Understanding of DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, and network concepts.
  • Familiarity with Linux or *nix operating systems.
  • Experience with task automation via scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Enterprise Content Management Systems.
  • AWS or other cloud experience.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
  • Knowledge of container security, management, and orchestration in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with Application Performance Management tools (Dynatrace or similar).
  • Familiarity with LDAP concepts and working with an LDAP Directory.
  • Agile development and release management experience.
