Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a collaborative team. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with experience in accounting software, Microsoft Word, and Excel to contribute to maintaining and managing financial records. As a Staff Accountant, you will help ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, assist with budgeting, and support revenue recognition and government compliance in a medical billing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis.
Prepare journal entries for account reconciliation and analysis.
Assist with revenue recognition in a fee-for-service model, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Track deferred revenue based on attendance for fee-for-service billing.
Complete monthly cash account reconciliations.
Manage and track monthly debt service reconciliations.
Maintain and monitor budget modifications.
Prepare variance explanations between budget and forecasts.
Assist in preparing monthly financial statements.
Support financial statement audits and retirement account audits with required documentation.
Contribute to the development and execution of internal controls to prevent deficiencies.
Help with utilization reviews for attendance and service records.
Maintain key financial ratio analysis.
Prepare various financial reports as directed by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Safeguard sensitive company information by maintaining confidentiality.
Follow all standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Ensure the workspace remains safe and organized.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the CFO.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or currently pursuing a degree (please list completed courses on your resume).
Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a non-profit setting.
Additional Experience: Familiarity with medical billing using LTSS software is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Effective communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Strong knowledge of accounting functions and internal controls.
Advanced analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to research and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Experience with Sage 50 Accounting Software is a plus.
Familiarity with LTSS and ICare Manager Software is beneficial.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and think critically.
Ability to meet deadlines and prepare financial information as required.
Basic understanding of information systems management is a plus.
Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
