Job Details

CLASS Peer Tutor II

  • Salary: $16.45/hour
  • Duration: July 1, 2025 through the 2025-2026 academic year, with possible continuation through final semester at Pacific
  • Location: Tran Library

This position provides peer tutoring at the Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS). Primary responsibilities include:

  • Providing a welcoming and supportive environment for all students to work toward their academic goals with peer support.
  • Working as a guide to assist peers with understanding course content.
  • Assisting peers with adopting effective learning and study strategies.
  • Preparing for and facilitating individual and group tutoring sessions in person and/or online.
  • Promoting CLASS services through class presentations and other outreach activities.
  • Completing required tutor training, reading and responding to updates and communications from supervisor, and participating in CLASS meetings throughout the year.
  • Contributing to the peer tutoring program’s success through adhering to CLASS policies and procedures, providing feedback to improve CLASS services, and participating in observations by supervisors.

    • Actively seeking fluent Spanish speakers to tutor writing in English, but Spanish fluency is not required to apply to be a writing tutor.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Satisfactory academic standing – grade of A or B in the courses to be tutored
  • Satisfactory faculty recommendation
  • Ability to tutor for multiple courses per term
  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student
  • Available to attend and complete all required training meetings:
    • Up to four hours of remote training via Moodle during summer
    • Thursday, August 21, 1:00-5:00 pm
    • Tuesdays, August 26-September 30, 11:30 am- 12:45 pm
    • Additional training will be required for writing tutors (days/times TBD)
  • Available to work a minimum of 3 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, including evening and Sunday hours
  • Experience or interest in peer education and team building
