Job Description

Sentry Insurance is currently seeking an experienced, customer service focused individual for a position as an Underwriting Support Specialist to service our National Accounts clients. As an Underwriting Support Specialist for Sentry, you’ll work with our Underwriting and Sales associates supporting the sale of our casualty business insurance and the needs of our current clients.

What You’ll Do

As an Underwriting Support Specialist, you will be responsible for specific territories utilizing your talents to:

  • Work closely with Underwriters, Underwriter Executives and Territory Executives to determine acceptability of the risk and services needed.
  • Collaborate with the appropriate functional units to provide exceptional service to your clients.
  • Prepare work associated with the acquisition of new accounts and renewal of existing accounts including evaluation for completeness and follow-up for missing information. Correspond with clients, brokers, bureaus or others to secure information needed.
  • Work with assigned clients and brokers on the coordinating of resolutions.
  • Analyze, process and prepare data related to the sale and retention of our clients.
  • Initiate and process various policy transactions as required.
  • Communicate with various external state insurance offices.

What it Takes

  • Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of related work experience with an insurance carrier, commercial agency or brokerage.
  • Above average PC knowledge and skills.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • A specific focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Sentry systems and processing preferred.
